The Northern Colorado Children’s Festival focuses public attention on the needs of Weld County’s young children and their families, and recognizes the early childhood programs and services available in the community. With the help of many community agencies, this event highlights children as the building blocks for our community’s future and helps ensure their healthy development.
Northern Colorado Children’s Festival is an annual one-day event for parents, caregivers, and their children to engage in a variety of hands-on experiences that are both educational and fun.
The festival offers many forms of quality play experience for children ages 0-8 to enjoy and for parents to learn how they can replicate the activities at home. The event is free of charge—every family is welcome. There are 90+ booths available for family participation; examples include developing fine motor skills, healthy eating and childhood obesity prevention, how to make homemade play dough, children’s immunizations, early childhood screenings, and more. At the booths parents learn of helpful resources. Each year 3,000+ children and adults attend.
A handful of attendees are surveyed at each event to determine their level of need for community resources. All organizations with a booth are surveyed each year for suggestions for improvement.
Goal 1: Celebrate children.
Goal 2: Connect parents with resources that exist in our community for children in an informal, non-threatening, supportive, and fun way.
Goal 3: Promote key values that are important to child development such as literacy, nutrition, safety, and developmental screening.
